We are a two site small animal practice in South Lakes, first established in the early 20th century. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinarians and vet nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, we are open six days a week and have access to 24-hour emergency care.
Michaela is our practice director and RVN who joined the team in July 2018 and splits her time between management and nursing at the practice. She graduated from Middlesex University in 2013 as a registered veterinary nurse. Michaela spends her spare time going to the gym and walking her puppy, Cara, who is an Australian Shepherd.
Judith Burrow RVN
Judith has been a nurse here at Church Walk for more than 35 years. She knows everything there is to know about the practice and more. Judith enjoys all areas of nursing but has a particular interest in wound healing. In her free time Judith enjoys going out walking with her lovely Lurcher, Mouse. She is an excellent home baker, turning out a focaccia better than Paul Hollywood himself!
Janice Hatton RVN
Janice has also been with the practice for much longer than she’d care to tell. Janice has a particular fondness for medical nursing, especially for those patients that are hospitalised for some time as she quickly forms a trusting bond with them, providing them with not only the medications they need but also lots of TLC. Janice enjoys getting out to her allotment when time allows or exploring the lakes with her two children and Meg, her Labrador Cross.
Lauren Milby RVN
Lauren is one of our nurses who works at both our Barrow and Ulverston branches. She qualified from Myerscough College in 2013, and joined the team here at Church Walk in May 2018. At work, Lauren has particular interests in nurse clinics and in-patient care. She has two dogs of her own: a Cocker Spaniel named George and a Labrador named Teddy.
Lauren Rigg RVN
Lauren is one of our RVN’s who works at both our Ulverston and Barrow surgeries. She graduated in biology from Liverpool University in 2013 and then went on to qualify as a RVN from Myerscough College in April 2017. Lauren joined the team here in June 2018. Lauren’s special interests are diabetic clinics and medical nursing and she has been awarded her diabetic advisor award. In her free time she is a regular gym goer and enjoys walking her dog, Penny, who is a Jack Russell Terrier.
Helen Summers RVN
Helen joined Church Walk in 2007. She enjoys all aspects of nursing and thrives on positive outcomes. She works tirelessly to look after hospitalised animals and enjoys seeing pets and owners happily reunited after a stay in hospital. Helen also loves to see guinea pigs come in to the clinic as she has a particular soft spot for them. Outside of work Helen is kept busy with her young family and looking after her Arab horse, Charlie, and her cheeky young Labrador, Amber.
Lisa Went BSc(Hons) RVN
Lisa joined us in 2010. She is very dedicated to her job, as for her her work is truly a vocation. Lisa enjoys all aspects of nursing but particularly enjoys consulting as she loves getting to know people and pets. Her preferred areas are weight clinics and dental care. Outside of work, Lisa is kept busy and entertained by her young daughter and Tommi, her Jack Russell Terrier.
